AUTHOR’S NOTEThe next two chapters you’re about to read represent the first half of a 52-week writing project, not a complete story, but one in progress. Every Saturday, I take part in #RainbowSnippets— a group for LGBTQ+ authors, readers, and bloggers to gather once a week to share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP, a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation. With each post, six sentences are added to the story. I don’t know ahead of time what comes next. The comments from the previous week and the characters themselves dictate the story’s direction.
