Description

Even a small deed may be a significant act to further a just cause.

July 1914: Encouraged by her city dwelling sister Rachel’s accounts of the growth of the women’s suffrage movement and the support it is receiving throughout Ireland, small town grocer and undertaker’s wife, Sarah Stewart decides to join a letter writing campaign, petitioning ulster unionist leader, Sir Edward Carson, to fulfil his 1913 pledge to grant women’s suffrage as part of plans for a provisional ulster government. But, even such a seemingly small act as writing a letter can have wide-ranging repercussions and should not be undertaken lightly. The rural community is unforgiving to those who misstep. Will Sarah find the wisdom to discern the right course of action and the courage to employ her knowledge?
