Rapunzel may not be in a tower, but she is a prisoner – of sorts.
She is queen and a widow, and an invading army is approaching the castle. As a bitter wind sweeps over the walls, a stranger arrives at the gate, and Rapunzel recognizes the woman’s face from her visions and her name from ancient tales.
Irmela has a dark history, but she and Rapunzel are connected by a web of invisible thread.
While brimstone rains down on the castle, the queen is in turmoil. She battles not only an enemy and her family’s disapproval, but also her own pride. She’s torn between duty and love and tells herself that giving her heart to an immortal is foolhardy.
But the wind, after centuries of being its own master, offers Rapunzel and Irmela its support.
We all know the tale of Snow White, right?
Evil step-mother + poisoned apple = disaster, but kindly dwarfs + handsome prince = happily ever after. This is not that story.
Wicked step-mother is no more, and the prince has been sent on his way. Bettina - which is Snow White’s real name - lives at home with her father, the king and her brother, Mathias.
But Prince Mathias is betrothed, and prior to his wedding, with the castle full of royal families, there comes a princess who has heard tales of the one who forsook the good-looking prince. She seeks out Princess Bettina in a secret hideaway protected by a magic spell.
A primitive urge is awakened in Bettina, and she gives in to her darkest fantasies.
The scrawled message Princess Rapunzel holds contains secret information, but not about a possible invasion, or a conspiracy. Instead, it is regarding a Yuletide gift. The scribbled words read ‘the present needs to be sweet and delicious and make my teeth ache and my body sizzle’.
But Rapunzel is puzzled. What gift will fulfill the requirements and satisfy her lover, Gisela? The two lovers meet infrequently in a long-deserted tower, and this is their last rendezvous before Yuletide. The princess has little time to prepare, but with the help of her chambermaid, she stumbles upon the perfect solution. But a misunderstanding puts Rapunzel in a quandary. Will Gisela be captivated or bored by the gift? And will the princess be able to escape a very sticky situation?
